The greatest pleasure I derive from painting is unveiling the richness of my imagination. This provides me with tools to explore the psyche of the human condition. I am curious about emotions and desires that reside in the subconscious. Several of my paintings probe at the silent anguish that must result when the conscious mind sacrifices the needs of the spirit to survive in our fast paced world.
I create images that may not be part of our visual world, in hope that an observer of my paintings will walk away gaining another dimension for his/her inner eye. My paintings maintain a quality of abstraction from which the observer can weave his/her own story.
I am greatly influenced by the surrealist movement especially through the works of Hieronymus Bosch, Remedios Varo, and Max Ernst.
